Penpower Inc, creators of the award winning and top selling business card scanning application “Worldcard Mobile” are excited to announce the release of “Worldictionary” for the iPhone, allowing users to quickly translate any word they see to and from nine different languages just by looking at it with their iPhone camera.
Fremont, CA – Penpower Technology has released their latest mobile application in the App Store, Worldictionary, a translating tool that uses the iPhone’s native camera to recognize text and translate on screen. Using Google translating services, Worldictionary has the ability to recognize thousands of words on any surface from street signs, books, restaurant menus to recipes and translate from nine different languages to over 50 other languages in a matter of seconds – it is literally an interpreter on-the-go.
Worldictionary is not just for real-time translations, it also works as a dictionary and thesaurus. To know more about the usage of a particular word, simply snap a photo of the text, select & highlight the word of you choice. The app will show you etymology, phonetics, synonyms and other valuable information.
Optionally, users have the ability to load an image from a photo album to get an instant translation or manually type in any word. The application features a bookmark function, which saves favorite words in a virtual dictionary allowing the user to access the information, regardless of network connection.
Worldictionary translates words from nine different languages including English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, German, Japanese, French, Spanish, Italian, and Korean. These nine languages can be translated into over fifty other languages – all from within Worldictionary!
